Having redid and upgraded over and over again the interior and the menus of the wine bar restaurant L’Estaminet on the main square in Gordes over the course of 15 years, Pascal Gabetta has moved up in the world — about thirty feet in altitude up the hill — to sprinkle his magic culinary dust on the Casa Rosario, a restaurant — pizzeria that is packing in the crowds this summer — especially local residents who appreciate an excellent value of price / quality, tasty dishes and a high-spirited ambiance.

Pascal gave the Casa Rosario a modest makeover: expanded a shaded outdoor dining area, purchased a boutique next door to allow for a larger entry way and room for a wine cellar, and converted the entire menu to Italian fare featuring imported Italian pastas, meat and cheese.

In brief, the menu has pastas from 12€ to 16€ (the latter is pasta with fresh scallops and cream of truffles), pizzas from 11.50€ to 13€, rissotto 13€ to 16€, and lamb or beef dishes at 13€ to 15€.  A “menu bambino” is available at 12€.

For wine enthusiasts, there are some great bargains of Châteauneuf-du-Papes, Domaine de Trevallon, and Luberon wines such as Domaine de la Royere as the wine cellar at the Estaminet followed Pascal up the hill.  In the small indoor dining area, there is a ‘cave de service,” a small cooler, for assuring that rosé and white wines are served at the proper temperature.

Every Wednesday during the month of July, a jazz trio plays in the evening: July 13, July 20, and July 27. Reservations for the jazz evenings are strongly recommended.
